THROUGH THE MEADOWS, THROUGH THE FORESTS
Cycling
‘Mazury Garbate’ region is an ideal place for cycling trips. The Green Velo trail runs near our farm: it is a section from Gołdap to Węgorzewo, the ‘cycling capital of Polish’. To the south stretches the Borecka Forest, our favorite place for trips (not only cycling!). The Trail of Masurian Legends and Tales begins here, where cyclists may encounter many unusual wooden sculptures, each of which is associated with local history or legend.
There are 8 bicycles at the guests’ disposal:
- 3 trekking bikes for adult travelers (in sizes 17”, 19” and 21”)
- 2 MTB, enabling cross-country expeditions around the area (17” and 19”)
- 3 for juniors (sizes 11”, 12” and 14”)
We also have 2 car seats (max weight of children is 22 kg) and helmets for the youngest!
Route No. 1
A ride of 7 km, a short loop through the beaver basin north of the Farm, with a view of the pond and windmill in Wólka. The road is sandy in places, then it is better to get off the bike and walk a few hundred meters (it is worth using them to observe the wildlife in the area). The route is also perfect for a longer walk!
Route No. 2
14 km along paths among the surrounding fields, meadows and pastures.
The route is extremely charming, but also in a large part rocky, in some places sandy. It is most convenient to travel it on a mountain bike.
Route No. 3
25 km along paths among closer and further fields, forests, meadows and pastures.
Part of the route leads along the Greenvelo trail, near the Gołdap-Węgorzewo route. In the final part of the trip we get to a section of the Masurian Legends and Tales Trail, with a mysterious statue, wetlands and secrets of The Pilate Hills. The route is mostly easy to travel by trekking bike.
Route No. 4
32 km.
We visit the northern part of the Borecka Forest, including the vicinity of the Borki reserve. Look out for alders - swampy, periodically flooded fragments of the forest. At the Borki reserve you can take a short walk to the bison enclosure. A large part of the expedition takes place in the surrounding villages, on the asphalt road, paved in places. The forest backwoods also lead along quite good roads, so a trekking bike is enough for us.
Route No. 5
67 km.
Despite its length, the route is quite easy and friendly for cyclists. Therefore, having a whole day, it is worth going to the heart of the Borecka Forest, between the reserves of Mazury, Lipowy Jar and Borki. As in the shorter variant, it is worth paying attention to alders - swampy, periodically flooded fragments of the forest. At the Borki reserve you can take a short walk to the bison enclosure. Part of the expedition takes place in the surrounding villages, on the asphalt road. The forest backwoods also lead along quite good roads, so a trekking bike is enough for us.
We support public transport - guests who come to us without their own car can use bicycles free of charge! Bicycles are also free of charge when riding on our farm.
In other cases - to keep our bikes in good condition - we charge a fee for renting them: PLN 10 per hour / PLN 25 for the whole day.
